Welcome to Opus Art Masters:
8 Artists, 1 Theme, 1 Hour, & 1 Box of mystery supplies

Experience Art Masters, an innovative painting competition designed to test the skills of professionals. Within one hour, participants use a mystery box of supplies to create a masterpiece that reflects a theme given during the contest.

 

The audience votes for their favorite, and all pieces will be available for a silent auction.

Chen, Kassie

Kassie Chen is a 17-year-old student at Crofton House School. Her favourite artist is Leonardo da Vinci, and she resonate with his quote, 'Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art,' as it reflects the deep connection between creativity and craftsmanship.

Jhangiani, Shakun

 Shakun is a  contemporary visual artist known for her distinctive signature style and unique use of acrylics & mixed media. She credits her professors Martin Guderna & the late Margaretha Bootsma at ECIAD for inspiring her to move out of her comfort zone painting portraits & still life in oils and start experimenting with acrylics and mixed media. This unplanned and unexpected journey helped her find her very own unique voice and signature style of painting. Her impressionistic semi abstract paintings feel like tranquil expressions of seascapes while the vibrant color field series of abstracts are bold and alive with color and passion.

Originally from Bombay, India where she enjoyed a career designing and creating costumes, props & sets for stage, theater and two very famous Bollywood films before immigrating to Canada.

Silas Onoja - Art vancouver 2025
Onoja, Silas

Silas Onoja is a Nigerian artist known for his realistic and hyperrealistic paintings. He began his artistic journey in 2016 and holds a Diploma in Fine Art from Benue State Polytechnic. His work often explores themes of music and culture, inspired by his love for classical music. Silas is also influenced by impressionism and continues to refine his craft through various creative explorations. He is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of his art and is seeking opportunities to expand his reach in the global art community.

Badarina Nuggehalli is an Indo-Canadian artist based in Vancouver, driven by a desire to capture the diverse emotions of people from various backgrounds through her art. Raised in India, she was instilled with values such as kindness, love, and humility. However, it was in Canada where she found the strength and courage to embrace her true self and appreciate the rich tapestry of cultures around her.

As a child, Badarina Nuggehalli realized that her art was often judged by society's standards and limitations. This realization initially led her to believe that art couldn't truly exist without freedom of expression, causing her to momentarily abandon her passion. However, in 2016, she rediscovered herself through her art, rekindling her confidence and determination.

Razi, Leila

Leila Razi is a visual artist with over 25 years of experience, known for exploring themes of identity, cultural connection, and migration. Proficient in oil, acrylic, resin, and mixed media, her collections—such as Wings of Flight and The Song of My Land—blend personal memory with global narratives. Her work often includes performance elements and has been exhibited in Japan, Iran, and soon, Vancouver. Based in Coquitlam, she also teaches art classes for children and adults at her private studio.

Schmidt, Olya

Olya Schmidt is a mixed media artist, specializing in acrylic, gouache and watercolour mediums. By expressing her vision through the use of bold colours, shapes and various themes from abstract to realism, she inspires others, evoking a sense of awe, curiosity and self reflection.

Stow, Erick

Erick Stow is a Canadian-born artist (Saskatoon. SK). He grew up in Lubbock, Texas where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in mass visual communications from Texas Tech University. Stow is the creator of a form of post-expressionism called “motionism”. Stow has toured the world with his art and has had residencies in Montreal, Calgary, Austin, and Los Angeles. His works are displayed in galleries, with private collectors, and sold in studios internationally. He is an award-winning film-maker, writer, actor, and director appearing in major motion pictures, on-stage, indie projects, and music videos. Stow's visual and editorial work has been published in magazines and newspapers internationally.
