Influenced by Georgia O’Keefe, an always-changing environment and a love for oil painting, previous Art! Vancouver exhibitor Irina Gretchanaia continues to experience great success with her detailed flower artwork.
The Russian-born artist had initially planned on going into fashion illustration, and one cannot help but wonder if that has helped to produce the fabric-like movement that is seen in her paintings. “When I take a photograph I am looking for the flower to do a dance. Movement is so important to my work and I want my flowers to continue that motion right onto the canvas.”
Gretchanaia now shows all across North America; you can also find her at Spectrum Miami, Art Expo New York and Art San Diego.
