Teyjah McAren, artist
Teyjah was born in Montreal, Quebec but now calls Salmon Arm home.
A month long trip to the U.S. Southwest changed the course and nature of Teyjah’s previous work. While hiking she discovered petroglyphs on a high rock face. These symbols gave rise to a passion to preserve them and explore their meaning.
Teyjah is recognized for her versatile and experimental work. Using a vast array of tools, techniques and acrylic materials, she creates many layers of textures infusing her petroglyph paintings with meaning. The work is abstract in nature and not pre-conceived at its inception. She hopes to shed some light on what constitutes “mystery”.

She holds a Master’s in Art Education and works for Golden Artist Colors. She has studied with a long list of international artists. Teyjah is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA) and an accredited member of the Society of Canadian Artists. Her artwork has been collected internationally and locally. Her works of art have been featured in four acrylic North Light books.
Painting and visiting rock art sites has taught her about spirituality and how truly interconnected we all are on Earth. These cryptic symbols beckon us to ponder our existence and ask why?
