Jane Lillico

Jane Lillico, artist

Canadian artist, writer, designer, Jane Lillico’s Saskatchewan roots show more in her engaging personality, than her chosen art forms. This talented sculptor, working in whatever materials she finds on hand, in combination with papier mache, fibreglass, or concrete; creates life-sized and over scale “birds, beasts and beings” which come alive as tangible expressions of her creativity, imagination and sense of humour. Her considerable other talents include free-hand architectural illustration, embroidery, jewelry, lighting and interior design.

In 1992, when her eyes feasted on the Sea of Cortez, the first time in this life, Jane Lillico knew she’d lived on the Baja in a previous one. Her passion for Mexico was ignited! Jane has divided her time between Vancouver and San Jose del Cabo since 2008. She is best known for her life-sized airborne pelican sculptures, on permanent exhibit at Galeria de Ida Victoria, in San Jose’s Historic Art District, and in private Mexican collections. Her most notable installation locally, is a trio of airborne Trumpeter Swans, commissioned by a North Vancouver family.

Jane’s passions include reducing, reusing and recycling, incorporating many found objects in her art, which she happily shares with her communities. She exhibited  works and conducted workshops with West Vancouver’s Harmony Arts Festival for several years, taught classes at children’s hospitals in Los Angeles for the Art of Elysium; and regularly donates time and works to charities such as Los Cabos Humane Society, Casa Hogar orphanage, and LigaMAC in Mexico.

Jane is also known for her writing and editing abilities with her regular column in Lands End Magazine since 2011, copy and blog writing for LuxLife Vacations and other clients, as well as authoring and illustrating a soon to be published book on English Homonyms, entitled Too Bee Oar Knot Two B, (what a question!)

Utilizing her construction and design talents, she’s also designed and managed numerous renovations, hurricane repairs and real estate staging. An avid foodie, Jane is a creative and talented cook, happily sharing her aRT2eaT talents with clients, friends and family.  She regularly reviews Los Cabos restaurants, with insights on where to find great comida at all price points, and where to sniff out the freshest healthy ingredients, when you’re in the mood to cook.
