On Saturday, August 11th, Art! Vancouver will be participating for the first time in Vancouver’s annual Mural Festival. The Vancouver Mural Festival gives artists an opportunity to contribute to the city’s diverse art scene, leaving a cultural legacy through permanent, large-scale public murals. Among the display of dazzling murals, we will be showcasing live painting demonstrations and pieces by a number of Vancouver-based visual artists including:
Jake is an English native living in Vancouver. After completing his degree in Graphic Design, he worked in the industry for the next seven years, eventually developing a strong interest in the urban art scene. Jake’s go-to mediums include colourful, fluorescent palettes and spray paint. Jake uses his passion for travel as an inspiration for many of his pieces.
In addition to holding the title “visual artist”, Talin is also a world traveller and Assistant Film Director. His portfolio includes animations, along with stunning aerial photography captured by drone. His footage of killer whales swimming in the Horseshoe Bay area was notably featured on CBC.
During her school years, Lisa won multiple visual arts awards, but discovered an interest in fashion and moved to Los Angeles at 17 to pursue an education at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. This experience paved the way for a successful career in the industry. After having children, Lisa transitioned to a role more centered to her roots in visual art. Painting and curating art for Hollyburn Country Club, Lisa then founded the non-profit Vancouver Visual Art Foundation, which annually hosts Art! Vancouver, an international fair at the Convention Centre. It is now Western Canada’s largest contemporary art fair, supporting the local arts scene and drawing in talent from around the world.
